01
What Is Panchakarma?
Classical Ayurvedic sources describe Panchakarma as five principal therapeutic procedures. Contemporary Ayurvedic institutions also describe a broader treatment process around these procedures, including preparation and post-therapy care.
02
What May the Process Include?
Depending on the individual assessment, a Panchakarma programme may involve preparatory measures such as Snehana (oleation) and Swedana (sudation), followed by selected procedures such as Vamana, Virechana, Basti or Nasya. The exact combination is not the same for everyone.
03
A Personalized Panchakarma Plan
The decision to undertake Panchakarma, the procedures selected, their sequence and the duration should be determined after an appropriate Ayurvedic assessment. It should not be approached as a generic detox programme.
04
What to Expect
A consultation comes first. If Panchakarma is considered appropriate, the practitioner explains the proposed plan, preparation, therapy and post-therapy dietary or lifestyle measures. Follow-up helps assess how the individual is responding.
